Hours and Access

The main entrance is at 8737 U.S. 19 North, Port Richey, Florida 34668. Restrooms, the kayak launch path, picnic tables, and the old concession pad all sit on this side of the park. A second access at Black Rail Trail Head serves walkers who do not need the launch.

Paddling Adventures, the former Cape Leisure rental desk on this site, remains closed until further notice. For current Florida State Park hours, fees, and any new concession operator, use the official park page linked from our home screen. Unredeemed Groupon vouchers from the old rental offer may still be used at Silver Springs, Ichetucknee Springs, or Anastasia water sports properties. Email cremsen@capeleisurecorp.com with the name and address used on the original purchase if you need a coupon code.

In July 2026 the U.S. 19 turn-in was easy to miss behind new highway work cones. If you are arriving with a roof-loaded kayak, give yourself an extra minute to signal; the lot is immediately inside the entrance, and there is no separate overflow for trailers.

On 21 January 2025 a Saturday morning filled the main lot before 10 a.m. Paddlers who had packed boats in a van overnight and arrived at opening still found a cart path clear. Late arrivals had a longer carry. Autumn 2022 the park continued to open on the standard Florida State Parks daylight schedule; confirm the current gate time before you leave home.

Since autumn 2022 the phone line on this page, (727) 426-35691, has been the Cape Leisure contact printed on older rack cards. For ranger questions, the Florida State Parks listing is the better first stop.

Getting a boat to the water

There is no ramp. Plan on wheels for the 0.2-mile walk to Salt Springs Creek. If you are sharing a vehicle with hikers, unload boats first so the rest of the group is not stepping over hulls in the parking aisle.
